This is the first post at this blog. This is my first real blog. I want this blog to be about what I’ve heard called “radical marching bands” and “radical street bands” and “protest brass bands”, and more generally the role of music in social movements and social movements in music. I’ve been playing in a radical marching band, on and off, for about 8 years, and so I like to think I know a little whereof I speak.
Thank you for reading. I love conversating much more than pontificating, and I hope that a general tone of curiosity and exploration will come through in the writing here.
